Purpose

The HETMAN dispatch system is a loud-speaking alarm and broadcasting system designed for operation in harsh industrial environments. It also enables the transmission of an alarm signal regarding any detected hazard from each signaling device to the dispatcher. The HETMAN system allows sending an alarm signal, a warning message, or informational announcement to a single, a selected group, or all telephone-signaling units. It can cooperate with any plant-wide analog or digital telephone exchange from any manufacturer. Due to its high flexibility, it can be tailored to the individual needs of the customer.

In the case of hazards, the alarm communication in mines enables warning the crew and managing their evacuation. It forms part of the overall plant dispatch system, which includes in particular the employee alarm system in case of hazards requiring withdrawal from specific workplaces.

The dispatch and alarm communication system should enable:
  • transmitting a hazard report from an underground workplace to the dispatcher,
  • sending an alarm signal by the dispatcher to endangered workplaces,
  • communicating with workers located underground using loud-speaking communication.
Depending on the needs of a specific plant, the system can provide:
  • plant-wide telephone communication,
  • dispatch telephone communication,
  • alarm and broadcasting communication.
The HETMAN dispatch system makes it possible to:
  • transmit an alarm signal about a hazard from any signaling device to the dispatcher,
  • send alarm signals to a single, a selected group, or all signaling telephones,
  • transmit warning and informational messages to one or a group of signaling devices (several different messages can be sent simultaneously) – either directly by the dispatcher or pre-recorded,
  • manage manual and automatic sending of messages. All calls and announcements are time-stamped and recorded,
  • send alarm messages automatically to groups of signaling devices – triggered by other safety systems,
  • select any device in listening mode,
  • implement a uniform network-based alarm system for interconnected plants with a multi-branch structure,
  • integrate with plant-wide telephone exchanges based on analog systems (CKK-70) or any type of digital systems (e.g., SIEMENS Hicom/Hipath, Alcatel A4400, AVAYA, etc.),
  • perform real-time monitoring and remote control from the dispatcher’s console over underground telephones, regardless of handset position (e.g., remotely “placing” the handset on the cradle if it was left off-hook),
  • queue incoming calls to the dispatcher, categorized into alarm and regular calls – displayed in independent lists, allowing the dispatcher to select any subscriber for communication,
  • monitor line status, including line interruptions and device shutdowns,
  • conduct loud-speaking duplex communication from the dispatcher’s console, with the option to switch to simplex mode.

The HETMAN dispatch system was developed by DGT Sp. z o.o., while the intrinsically safe components are manufactured by Telvis (JANTAR 2 signaling telephones and TBI intrinsically safe barriers). More information about the system is available on the HETMAN dispatch system website.
